Hi Sugar!

Sugar Cane Festival
The weather was perfect for the boat parade.  The humidity was low and the mosquitoes were few.  We watched the boats from the banks of the Bayou Teche.  As the sunset painted the bayou in dusky hues Hailey asked if I thought little girls use to watch the boats pass by in the olden days.  I told her that many merchants transported goods along the Bayou Teche and unloaded their cargo onto carts and wagons in New Iberia.  (I know this because of Heidi's social studies project.)  I was sure little girls just like her would run down to the banks and wave at the captain and crew on the boats.  The kids had a ball running around and watching the boats.  Saturday morning Hailey was in the parade so off we went to Main St.   It was a beautiful day!  We were in a great spot and the kids had a blast.  We missed the fais do do's though!  I guess we'll catch them next year!
