Childhood Summers

Whispered Wishes

Author: Leah Woofter
Sunning ourselves on a hot summer day,
happy and carefree, that was our way.
Everyday a new adventure to find, nothing
but fun, and more fun on our minds.
The cool bubbling creek, flowing it's way,
the soft mossy rock where we would lay,
dreaming and wondering what our futures would
bring, songs in our hearts that we could
sing.
Long walks back that old country road,
picking wildflowers as we'd go.
To the waterfall where we could swim,
laughing, splashing and laughing again.
Hunting crawldads in the creek, everyday
seemed as long as a week.
Never wanting it to ever end, whispered
wishes drifting on the wind.
